Gym digital signage for classes, workouts and members

Show today’s class schedule, the workout of the day and your latest membership offer on every screen in the club, updated from one browser dashboard. Free for your first screen, no card required.

The problem with whiteboards and posters in a gym

Gyms communicate constantly. Class times change, instructors cover for each other, a new challenge launches, a studio closes for a deep clean, and there is always a membership offer to promote. The usual tools — a whiteboard by reception, printed timetables, posters taped to the mirror — go out of date quickly and look tired next to the rest of the club.

Gym digital signage replaces those with screens you control from a browser. A change made once reaches every screen that needs it, and scheduled content appears and disappears on its own. DigiSignWall works for a single studio or a franchise of fitness centers managed from head office.

Where fitness center screens work best

These are the places most clubs put screens, and the content that suits each.

Reception and entrance

Members glance at reception on the way in. A portrait or landscape screen here can carry the day’s class schedule display, opening hours, a welcome for new members and a rotating membership or personal-training offer. A QR Code widget lets people book a class, join a challenge or download your app from their own phone without queuing at the desk.

Gym floor

Screens on the gym floor are for people mid-session. Keep them visual: the workout of the day, a featured exercise demonstration from a video or YouTube clip, or a leaderboard for a monthly challenge. Split the screen into zones so a demo video runs beside a static list of sets and reps.

Studios and class areas

A workout display in the studio can show the session plan before the class starts and a Countdown widget to the start time, so members arrive and warm up without asking. Between classes, show what is coming next and who is teaching it.

Changing rooms, café and corridors

Corridors and café areas suit longer messages: nutrition tips, supplement and smoothie menus built with the Menu Board widget, community events and club news. Changing rooms are a good place for housekeeping and safety notices.

Features that matter for gyms

Class schedules that update themselves

Every item can carry a schedule by time of day, day-part, weekday, date range or recurring pattern. Monday’s timetable shows on Monday, the early-bird offer runs only before 9:00, and a holiday timetable takes over for the exact dates you set. If your class timetable is available as a data feed, the API Data widget can display it so the screen matches the booking system.

Widgets for a busy club

Beyond Countdown, QR Code and Menu Board, the editor includes Clock, Weather (useful if you run outdoor bootcamps), Ticker for scrolling announcements, Slideshow for member photos, and Video for exercise demos (YouTube also works on screens that use the web player). Live data widgets are part of the Pro plan. See all features.

Instant changes when plans change

When an instructor calls in sick, publish the update and connected screens typically change in under a second. Each player acknowledges delivery, so the front desk can trust the screen is right.

Designs built in minutes

Use the drag-and-drop editor, or describe the screen to the AI assistant — “portrait screen, club logo at the top, today’s classes in a list, membership offer at the bottom” — and it builds an editable layout. You can also give it a screenshot of an existing poster to rebuild. You approve each component before it is added.

Content tips for gym screens

People on the gym floor are moving and often some distance from the screen, so use large type, high contrast and short text. Keep exercise demos to a few seconds each and loop them. Put detailed information such as full timetables at reception or in corridors, where people stand still. Give every promotion an end date so an expired offer never stays on screen. And be careful with music and broadcast TV: licensing for public performance is your responsibility, so most clubs run silent visual content on signage screens.

Hardware for gym screens

Each screen needs a display and a player. An Amazon Fire TV Stick or Cube is a popular low-cost option for gyms — see Fire TV digital signage. You can also use an Android 8+ TV box or stick, a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, a smart TV with a browser running the web player, or a Windows or Mac mini-PC. Install the DigiSignWall player, enter the six-digit pairing code in the dashboard, and the screen is ready; setup typically takes under 30 minutes.

Gym-specific points: mount floor screens high enough to stay clear of equipment and swinging kettlebells, secure players behind the display, and avoid changing-room areas with heavy humidity unless the hardware is rated for it.

What gym digital signage costs

DigiSignWall is free for one screen with no time limit, and $29 a month for up to 25 screens on Pro ($290 a year) — around $1.16 per screen at full use. Pro adds multi-zone layouts, analytics, live data widgets and day-part scheduling, with a 14-day trial and no card. Franchises with 100 or more screens move to Enterprise with volume pricing. Running screens across a franchise

Group screens by club, region or zone — “all studios” or “west region receptions” — and publish to a group in one step. Role-based permissions let head office lock brand templates and national campaigns while club managers edit their own timetables and local news. The dashboard shows which screens are online, when each last checked in and what it is playing live.

An emergency alert can override every screen in one club or across the network, with notifications by email, SMS, push or WhatsApp. Enterprise adds SSO, audit logs and IP allowlisting, plus white-label for agencies running signage for fitness brands. Analytics report impressions, uptime and content performance.

FAQ

Gym digital signage questions

What is gym digital signage?

Gym digital signage is the set of screens around a fitness center — reception, the gym floor, studios, changing areas — managed from software instead of printed posters. Staff update class schedules, promotions and notices in a browser, and schedules decide what each screen shows when.

Can a screen show today’s class schedule automatically?

Yes. Build the timetable once and use day and weekday scheduling so each screen shows the right day’s classes. If your timetable lives in a system with a data feed, the API Data widget can display it so the screen follows the source.

Can I run workout timers on the studio screen?

The Countdown widget counts down to a set date and time, which suits “next class starts in” and challenge deadlines. For interval workouts, many studios play a pre-made timer video in a zone alongside the exercise list.

How much does digital signage for a gym cost?

The software is free for one screen and $29 a month for up to 25 screens on Pro. Most of the budget is displays, players and mounting. Use the cost calculator to model your own club.

Can a gym franchise control what every club shows?

Yes. Group screens by club and region, and use role-based permissions so head office owns brand templates and national campaigns while each club manager edits only their own screens.

Will screens keep working if the gym Wi-Fi drops?

Yes. Each player caches its content and keeps playing what it last received, then syncs any changes when the connection returns.
